Principal's Message
I am new to Hills-Hendersonville Elementary and to Canon-McMillan, and I feel very grateful to begin this next chapter here. What drew me to Canon-McMillan was the strong sense of community, the pride people have in the district, and the opportunity to serve students at the elementary level. I believe elementary school is where we build important foundations for learning, confidence, belonging and growth.
My vision is for Hills-Hendersonville to be a school where every child is known, valued, challenged and supported. Over the next few years, I want us to continue building on the strengths of the school while growing together through collaboration, strong instruction, clear expectations, and meaningful family partnerships. I believe a strong school culture is built through relationships, trust, consistency and a shared commitment to helping every student grow.
Students feel valued when they are known by name, welcomed as they are, and supported as learners and people. As principal, I want to help create a school environment where students feel safe to try, make mistakes, ask questions, and keep growing. That happens through strong relationships, inclusive classroom practices, student voice, family partnerships, and a staff culture that believes every child can learn and contribute.
Because I am new, I am entering with a listening-and-learning mindset. What I have already noticed is that Hills-Hendersonville has a caring school community, dedicated staff, supportive families, and students who deserve our very best. My goal is to honor what is already working well while collaborating with staff and families to continue strengthening a culture of belonging, growth, trust and joy.
What I enjoy most so far is the opportunity to be part of a district and school community that cares deeply about students. I am excited to learn from the people here, work alongside the staff, support families, and be present for students each day. For me, the best part of being a principal is helping create the conditions where students and adults feel supported, are willing to try new things, learn from mistakes, and do their best work.
