Principal's Message
I’ve been with Canon-McMillan for 28 years. What initially drew me here was wanting to teach in the District, where I received my foundation as a previous graduate. I was a teacher at Canon-McMillan for nine years before becoming an administrator. My vision for Hills-Hendersonville Elementary School within the next five years is to ensure that students master grade-level content, employ critical thinking and problem-solving strategies, develop practical communication skills and demonstrate positive interactions. We will build stronger relationships with students and their families to make sure each student is connected to the school.
At Hills-Hendersonville Elementary School, we strive to foster a positive and supportive classroom culture where all students feel a sense of belonging. The students have opportunities for positive interactions, are offered choices and provided with the support they need to succeed. We encourage students to share their ideas and perspectives with their peers and classmates.
The culture at our school is continually evolving to foster positive relationships and promote a growth mindset for all. We take pride in providing a welcoming environment where every student feels valued, safe and supported. The staff is passionate about their work and is dedicated to student learning.
What I enjoy most about being a principal at Canon-McMillan School District is the close community feel we have as a District. Hills-Hendersonville Elementary School remains one of the last neighborhood schools within the District, and it has a slight, family-like feel where everyone knows everyone’s name, including both students and staff. I enjoy the daily interactions that I have with the students and seeing their smiling faces.
